Results

A full report will be posted soon, along with photos, but here is a summary. Connor woke up race day morning not feeling well.  He decided to try the race anyway and ended up throwing-up during the first lap.  After running nearly a marathon, he was forced to crawl into the tent and try to fight off the food poisoning/bug.   He went back out and managed to run a grand total of 50 kilometers (31 miles) - generally the distance that first is recognized as an ultra marathon.   Brandon fought the heat (and it was HOT) and dry winds, plus midnight hours, to log an incredible 50 miles!

Connor and Brandon, if successful, will be running approximately the equivalent distance as one who drives from San Francisco to Monterey.  Yes, their feet will be sore.

PLEDGE COUNT NOW AT $1500 FOR RIORDAN!  LET'S KEEP IT COMING!!!!!

REMEMBER:

Connor and Brandon have chosen their first ultramarathon and they will be attempting to run 100 miles.   This will be their first attempt at an ultra marathon.    They have decided to use this attempt to help raise funds for their high school.

Both Brandon and Connor are starting their freshman year at Archbishop Riordan High School in San Francisco.   Archbishop Riordan reflects the cultural heritage of the ethnic groups of the City of San Francisco and its adjacent communities. The school respects the integrity of each individual as a unique human being. The school admits students of varying abilities.  Archbishop Riordan engages its students in a process of education which promotes each student's personal growth and development in the intellectual, spiritual, social, and physical aspects of his life.

Connor and Brandon have chosen the Run de Vous 100 Mile Run as their race in this goal.  They hope that by committing themselves to do this run, they can simultaneously help raise funds for their new school.  These funds will go a long way to help their educational institution.  From helping purchase new technology, upgrading classrooms and improving the athletic fields and rooms Brandon and Connor hope to start their high school experience by helping their school.

The race starts on August 18 at 6:00 am and ends at 2:00pm August 19, 2012.  You can follow live race updates at the race website

They are respectfully asking you to help pledge them in this crusade.   Whether it be a certain amount (you choose) per mile, or a fixed amount, they would be grateful for any help.  You can pledge in the comment section below and/or by e-mail to:  alan@geraldi-law.com  They are doing this together (but not as a relay - they are each looking to do the full 100 miles) - so your one pledge is pledging their joint effort.

ARHS is a non-profit 501(c)3 institution.  Pledges can be paid via PayPal (I will send you a receipt and turn the money over to the high school in your own name).  You can mail checks (Made out to: "ARHS")  to:  Running For Riordan  c/o Geraldi Law   97 West Moltke Street, Daly City, California 94014  or to Riordan High School itself at: 175 Phelan Avenue, San Francisco, California 94112 (please mention "Running For Riordan" on the memo line).

Brandon's dad did the 100 miler last year and Connor's mom did a 40 mile finish last year.  Here they are at the 2011 finish.  They will be joining Brandon and Connor this year as all 4 attempt to go 100 miles for Riordan.

The View

This is the scenery where the 100 miles will be run.  It is at Harvey Bear Park in San Martin, California.
